My family and I have been living in a small thai village for the last few weeks. Our stay here got me thinking a lot about how our lives became the way it has nowadays. Watching the kindness and the warm heart of the Thai people, I wonder, how can the majority of the world live disconnected from this state of being? And what is this disconnection doing to ourselves, our relations and our planet.
Early in the morning, I walk around with my 1-year-old son and we see grandmothers, grandfathers, adults, kids, babies, all sitting around, having food together on the floor, talking, and taking care of each other…. same happens towards the end of the day…. a lot of them have a small business in the same place that they all live together, and there is no real separation of one area or the other…. parents get to spend loads of time with their kids and the children grow up feeling supported and protected not only by their family, but by the entire village.
Every single person that sees my son, has time and energy to talk to him, offer him food and toys, invites him in, and above all, give him loads of love, care and attention. Its really mind blowing. Cannot be grateful enough for be living the life we are living. I believe this way he will grow up truly understanding that life is about connection….not separation. Life is about union, not isolation. Life is about love, not about money.
How about you? What life do you want to show your kids?
